It’s Time for a new Brisbane Entry Sign!
Brisbane, CA is a wonderful place and a great community!
Why do we need a (new) entry sign…?
Because … entry signs say you — whoever you are — are welcome here!
And … a new sign will help local businesses find customers and thrive.
An example of what a Welcome to Brisbane sign would look like. This one has two posts and light landscaping at the bottom.
This sign is similar to the image above, although simpler. With just the city name and “Est. 1961”. There are a lot of possibilities.
Where will the sign go? We believe that it should live somewhere in this section of grass. It’s kind of the most “natural spot” for this type of sign.
We are figuring out exact location and logistics. Now that the Bank of America building is gone, we definitely can’t let this empty bank sign sit there forever. :-)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Question: How much will this cost?
Answer: We are still refining the design, finding the exact right location, and determining the total cost we. We hope to have volunteers contribute supplies and support.
Question: Where will the sign go?
Answer:: We feel the most natural spot is in the island where the vacation Bank of America sign sits. There are decisions that need to be made — how high? who will design it? can we ensure it doesn’t obstruct anyone’s view? what will we do with the hulking B of A sign that is there? We are discussing all this and hope to gather lots of feedback large and small.
Question: What is the purpose of the sign?
Answer: The sign is meant to welcome people to Brisbane — whether you have lived here for decades or you work nearby and would like to grab food in town, the sign lets you know where you are and that this is the Brisbane you’ve always heard about. The sign is an embodiment of the spirit of the Brisbane: this is a welcoming place! Everyone is welcome. Welcome to Brisbane! :-)
Question: Are you working with the city?
Answer: While this is a volunteer effort, we are working closely with the city to ensure all constituencies (residents, businesses, city government, and others) approve these plans.
